Guigal's 2018 Cotes du Rhone is a fun, fruit-driven vintage of a wine whose normal style tends more toward "serious." It's medium to full-bodied but refreshingly supple, with juicy cherries and blueberries dancing on the palate.

Drink Date:2030 - 2080
The citrus-colored 2018 Riesling Wehlener Klosterberg Beerenauslese is clear and concentrated on the precise and lemon-fresh nose that represents a first-class, early botrytis with remarkable precision. Dense yet clear and piquant on the palate, with great purity, finesse and lingering salinity, this is a brilliant, highly finessed Beerenauslese whose sweetness is cut by minerals and this crystalline and salty acidity of the coolish Klosterberg. Highly stimulating in its clarity, piquancy and linear elegance. Sold in 375-milliliter bottles. Tasted at the domain in September 2020.

Blending 60% Welschriesling vinified in Slavonian oak vats of 1,000 and 1,500 liters and 40% Chardonnay aged in barriques, the 2019 Trockenbeerenauslese No. 5 Grande Cuvée Nouvelle Vague opens with a clear and concentrated, noble and finely toasty bouquet of ripe and stewed peaches and quinces with refreshing lemon juice and very fine toast aromas. On the palate, this is a rich and generous but highly refined and elegant TBA with a long, intense and saline finish that reveals very fine cumquat bitters. This is a beautifully balanced and extremely long TBA with very fine tannins and cedarwood notes. A beauty with great complexity and immense aging potential. 10% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted at the domaine in July 2022.

Tasted at the château, the 2008 Château Doisy-Védrines does not have the same fruit intensity as the previous two vintages on the nose and comes across more resinous and understated. The palate is crisp and vibrant on the entry and goes some way in compensating for the aromatics. The acidity is very well judged and there is impressive tension on the finish: orange sorbet and quince fanning out in assured fashion. Enjoy this over the next 15 to 20 years.

Aromas of buttery orchard fruit, hazelnuts, white flowers and beeswax introduce the 2020 Meursault Village (Maison Louis Jadot), a medium to full-bodied, ample and satiny wine underpinned by tangy acids and chalky grip. Concluding with a saline finish, it's a fine effort that represents one of the house's larger cuvees.
