The 2022 Doug's Vineyard Pinot Noir is savory and spiced and riddled with autumn leaf nuance, pastrami, graphite, steel, blueberry, black cherry and black tea. This is a beguiling wine, to say the least; it offers so much intrigue and diversity both aromatically and in the mouth. The wine is already evolving so gracefully, telling me that a night spent with Doug('s Vineyard) might be a night well spent. It is supple and gently chewy. What a wine. 13% alcohol, sealed under Diam.

●品種：ピノ・ノワール 100%
●マセドン・レーンジズ内、ロムジーに位置する畑（標高 500m、1998 年植樹・赤みがかった火山性・玄武岩土壌）。
朝に手摘み・選果され一部全房(20%)のまま開放タンクで自然醗酵。
約 3 週間のマセレーション後、オーク樽へとプレスされ（Laurent 社のMagic Cask 含む。一部新樽）12 ヶ月熟成。
さらに 4 カ月ステンレスで熟成させ、僅かな亜硫酸と共にボトリング。
ノンフィルター、清澄剤不使用。
2022 年は昨年に引き続き全体的に冷涼となり、生育期を通して雨量が多く病害のリスクも高かったために収量は低くなってしまったものの、最終的に得られたブドウからは際立った風味、活き活きと凝縮したエネルギー、そして繊細さに優れたワインが産まれました。
昨年に引き続きシャルドネは極めて生産量が少なくなり、またレイ・モンドは来年 2023 年産がリリースされないことがはっきりしているため要注意です。 -

Joshua Cooper is a producer whose wines I buy in my spare time and drink when I'm not working. The wines are detailed and interesting, and that's something I really value, along with distinction, specificity, place and identity. So, the 2021 Shay's Flat Cabernet Sauvignon leads with a leafy, cassis-riddled nose, which is brambly and spiced, with lotus leaf/humidor (to quote a friend), star anise, mountain herbs, coal dust, salted licorice, ash/embers and blackberries. In the mouth, the tannins are svelte and streamlined-they shape the fruit but it's an invisible caress-and their finesse is like finely milled powder. While tasting, the rockiness of the place evokes earth and minerals in the mind. The cool part about this wine is its austerity of line and structure: it packs flavor and complexity and freshness into a fine-boned package. It's awesome. Thrilling, actually.
