ソッティマーノがバルバレスコのトップ生産者の地位を確立する為に行なってきた素晴らしい努力を、私はどのように表現すればよいだろう。ここはピエモンテでも数少ない、全てのワインが一貫して美味しい生産者です。

コッタはバルバレスコ・エリアに近くネイヴェの個性であるエレガンスとバルバレスコ・エリアの力強さを併せ持ったキャラクターが特徴です。

This wine comes from a 2.8-hectare vineyard purchased by Andrea Sottimano's father in 1969. Today, the vines are 80 years old and planted in very wide spacing that once had vegetables and artichokes between the rows. The soils are sandy like in Rabajà and Asili. The 2021 Barbaresco Cottá was the last wine in our flight. That's because it has the biggest concentration and richness. It offers a full bouquet with sweet berry fruits, dried herb and dark spice. It makes a big impact on the palate, and it shows an intense, long-lasting mouthfeel. All of these Sottimano wines are racked into oak sometime after January, and malolactic fermentation proceeds very slowly (finishing at the end of summer or closer to harvest). This gives the wine a reductive character. The aromas here are very delicate and fine with carob, forest fruit, orange rind and blue flower. The tannins are powdery and fine. This beautiful Nebbiolo drinks like a Pinot Noir. Production is 9,000 bottles.

Curra(クッラ)‐ネイヴェ地区の特徴
クッラはバルバレスコ・エリアに近いネイヴェに位置しネイヴェのワインに見られるハーブのニュアンスとバルバレスコの力強さを併せ持ちます。
クッラの畑は最も樹齢が高く、テロワールのポテンシャルが他のクリュに比べ抜きん出ており、そのポテンシャルを最大限活かすため、他のバルバレスコよりも瓶熟期間を1年長く置き、飲み頃を迎えてからリリースされる、ソッティマーノの中でも特別な位置付けのバルバレスコです。

堂々とした骨格のタンニンが特徴的です。
グラスの中で徐々に膨らみを見せ始め、タンニンの細かさとミネラル感が強く飲み応えのあるバルバレスコです。

Released one year later than the other Barbarescos in this portfolio, the Sottimano 2019 Barbaresco Currá brings the intensity up a notch and not just in terms of dark fruit and cassis. The wine's mineral profile is more pronounced and, in careful moderation, so is the oak toast and spice delivery. There are more distinct elements here, all played forward with great intensity, that ultimately reach a place of excellent balance and endurance. Sadly, only 2,000 bottles emerged from this 1.6-hectare vineyard site in Neive.

Basarin(バサリン)‐ネイヴェ地区
ネイヴェとトレイゾに位置するバサリン。「バサリン」とはピエモンテの方言で太陽のキスという意味。
標高280mの丘の上に位置し、その名の通り日当たりの良い畑です。スパイシーで甘草の香りが特徴です。

美しく明るいガーネットの外観。ダークチェリーなどの果実、甘草、タバコ、スパイスなどの複雑なアロマ。
口中ではシルキーなタンニンが広がり、温かみのあるふくよかなベリー系の果実、ネイヴェらしいバルサミコのニュアンスが感じられます。

The Sottimano 2019 Barbaresco Basarin opens to a beautifully luminous ruby appearance with soft Nebbiolo aromas of wild cherry, grilled rosemary, cola and pressed wildflower. The wine is tapered and extremely elegant with firm tannins over a long mouthfeel. There is a hint of crunch on the close that will soften as this beautiful Barbaresco continues its bottle evolution.
