Not yet bottled at the time of my visit, the 2020 Cotes du Rhone Villages Terre d'Argile shows a bit more structure and tannin than the regular Cotes du Rhone, but it also boasts charming, floral nuances and vibrant blackberry fruit. It's medium to full-bodied, with a long, slightly drying, dusty finish.

Looking at the 2012s and just bottled, the 2012 Cotes du Rhone (50% Grenache, 20% Syrah and the balance Carignan, Cinsault and Mourvedre) is fresh and lively, with juicy berry fruit, licorice and hints of earth to go with a medium-bodied, balanced and fresh feel on the palate. It’s a delicious drinker to enjoy over the coming 2-3 years. Drink now-2017.
