The 2020 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Les Corbeaux is the finest rendition of this cuvée I've tasted chez Bachelet. Unfurling in the glass with aromas of blackberries and raspberries mingled with exotic spices, rose petals and orange rind, it's medium to full-bodied, velvety and concentrated, with a deep core of fruit that's girdled by tangy acids and fine, powdery tannins.

Bachelet's 2020 Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes once again incorporates his holdings in Les Evocelles, which didn't produce enough grapes to merit a separate vinification. Bursting with aromas of cherries, raspberries, spices and licorice, it's medium to full-bodied, deep and concentrated, with velvety tannins, lively acids and an elegant, seamless profile.

There are only five barrels of the monumental 2020 Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru Vieilles Vignes, a wine Denis Bachelet is inclined to rank alongside his 2002 and 1999 as among the greatest hits of his career. Unfurling in the glass with notes of peonies, rose petals, wild berries, loamy soil, black truffle, exotic spices and blood orange, it's full-bodied, layered and multidimensional, with huge concentration, lively acids and beautifully ripe, powdery tannins. Concluding with a long and perfumed finish, it's one of the wines of the vintage.
