The 2018 Bourgogne Côte d'Or Hemisphere Sud (Méo-Camuzet Frère & Soeurs) is a new bottling for Méo's négociant line, derived from three plots in the commune of Pommard. Offering up aromas of cassis, plums, raw cocoa and sweet soil tones, the wine is medium to full-bodied, fleshy and succulent, with powdery tannins and good concentration. Méo will bottle two other Bourgognes that we didn't taste: a "Hempisphere Nord" cuvée from the Côte de Nuits, produced from purchased fruit, and the classic domaine cuvée with which followers of this estate will be familiar.

The 2017 Corton Clos Rognet Grand Cru wafts from the glass with aromas of cherries, cassis, blood orange, spices and smoked meats. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, deep and tangy, with fine but firm structuring tannins, impressive tension at the core and a long, nicely defined finish. This was also a bit introverted after its recent racking but it shows plenty of promise.
