The opaque ruby/purple-colored, 100% Merlot 1999 La Ricolma possesses aromas of fresh espresso, licorice, black cherry jam, cough syrup, and a hint of green pepper. Dense and chewy, with a sweet palate and considerable elegance, it is a singular expression of Merlot that is completely different than any other tasted in Tuscany. It should drink well for 10-15 years.
