彼がカリフォルニアで手掛けるワイナリーが、ドミナス・エステートです。
こちらは親日家であるムエックス氏が日本のワインラヴァーのために、和食とも相性の良い軽やかでエレガントなワインを届けたいとの思いから誕生した、サードワイン。
ファーストに通ずるエレガンスを持ち合わせていながらも、比較的手頃な価格で手に入るという魅力溢れる1本です。
外観は深みのあるルビーの色調。
レッドチェリーやザクロ、カシスなどの果実のアロマに、ブラックペッパーや土のニュアンスが重なり、多層的な香りが広がります。
口に含むと、豊かな果実味とシルキーなタンニンが感じられ、美しい酸がバランス良く調和。
長く魅惑的な余韻はいつまでも続き、洗練された印象の1本です。
若いうちから楽しめますが、熟成させることにより円熟した深みのある味わいをご堪能いただけます。

Produced largely from the vines at the very front of the property, where there are higher proportions of clay and silt, the 2021 Othello Red Wine marks the first time this wine has been released to the US market (it has been made since 2005, first for the Japanese market, then sold into Canada as well). There are 1,000 cases of this wine, which is a blend of 85% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Cabernet Franc and 6% Petit Verdot that saw just 20% new French oak, with the balance being second or third-use. Aromas include raspberry and cherry fruit, with some softly dusty earth tones. Medium to full-bodied, the wine exhibits fairly soft tannins and a silky mouthfeel, not that rich or concentrated but balanced and gently savory on the lingering, mocha-tinged finish.
